Foods Allowed in Restricted Amounts
MEAT, FISH, POULTRY
One 2 oz. serving daily of lean beef, veal, chicken, herring, oysters, crab, cod, white fish, blue fish, finan haddie, or salmon.
FATS
Butter or margarine, cream, salad oils, and mayonnaise.
BEVERAGES
Cocoa, coffee, tea, Postum, one cup daily.
Foods to Avoid
Oatmeal, all broth's, meat extractives or bouillon cubes, kidney, liver, sweetbreads, sardines, anchovies, brains, asparagus, eggplant, peas, beans, cauliflower, lentils, mushrooms, spinach pie and all pastries rich in fat, alcoholic beverages, gravy and all fried foods and condiments.
SAMPLE MENU
BREAKFAST
1/2 grapefruit, cornflakes, milk, sugar, soft cooked egg, coffee (1 cup)
LUNCH
roast beef (2 oz.), mashed potatoes, carrots, cottage cheese, bread, butter, jelly, Jell-O, milk.
DINNER
cream of potato soup, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, lettuce and tomato salad, bread, butter, jelly, canned pears, milk.
